Smith & Boucher Engineer Leads Effort for Ozanam Guild Martini Mile

At Smith & Boucher, our engineers are not only dedicated to the work they do for our clients, but also to volunteering and supporting the Kansas City community.  Senior Engineer, Brent Felten, PE, is a prime example of this commitment to our city and the people in it.  Brent has been a member of the Ozanam Guild for approximately three years. The Guild is a group of young professionals that volunteer their time to help raise funds and awareness for Ozanam, a treatment center for children in Kansas City.

Ozanam is a center for troubled children and their families that strives to provide quality services in response to the needs of families and youth struggling with severe emotional, behavioral or learning problems. Ozanam provides numerous services, including residential treatment and on-campus regular and special education day treatment for adolescent boys and girls, transitional living programs in mid-town Kansas City and Wichita for older adolescents needing to learn life skills, and behavior consultation for school districts. Ozanam offers adjunctive therapy programs to children including horticulture therapy, recreation therapy, art therapy and substance abuse therapy and prevention.

As the current Public Relations and Community Outreach Chair for the Ozanam Guild, Brent is a main creator and organizer of the first annual Ozanam Guild Martini Mile event.  The Ozanam Guild Martini Mile, sponsored by the Martini Corner Entertainment District and Smith & Boucher, is a 1-mile loop around the beautiful, historic Union Hill & Martini Corner Entertainment District. Competitive and recreational heats with divisions consisting of Male, Female, Co-Ed and Corporate are available.  Organizers hope to raise approximately $5000 in the first year of the event and increase attendance at other upcoming Guild events.
